Kerala Shorts in Handwoven Raw Silk (stock)
This garment has already been made and is looking for a good home. It is approximately a Large.
Kerala shorts are inspired by a pair of shorts found along the coast of Kerala, India years ago. Feel free to jump in the water when you’re wearing them — they work great as a bathing suit. They also have a drawstring in the waistband to adjust the fit.
Our Handwoven Raw Silk is a fabric that is patiently and meditatively woven together fiber by fiber on a wooden loom in Nepal. Raw Silk is as rare as it is special, being wonderfully soft, thermally adaptive and resistant to essentially all pests. Raw Silk differs from refined silk (like that found in South-East Asia and China) because it is not refined through boiling which results in a less shinny and more organic look and feel.
Supplies are annual and limited.
The garment is stitched by artisanal tailors employed by an ethically run, small family business in the Kathmandu Valley with whom we have been working for years.
This garment is also available in Handwoven Linen.
We are working on sizing this garment. Currently we can only offer limited sizing.
