La Scarpa (maroon red)
La Scarpa builds from a tradition that is hundreds of years old. Known as a friulane or scarpets, the design comes from Friuli in Northeastern Italy, close to Venice, between the mountains and the coast.
You can find lots cheap imitations with a glued-on sole, but an authentic scarpet is harder and harder to come by... because they must be made by hand. With a little help from a dear Friulano friend, we were able to do so. Our scarpets are still made in the traditional way by a 5th generation family business outside San Daniele.
Wear them while strolling in town or through the city, walking a path leading to or from, or maybe along the beach. Inside or outside. Perhaps a pair of lightweight wool socks if it is cold.
The lining is made from jute, a wonderful natural fiber, so that your feet stay airy. The exterior is made from velvet.
These shoes are unisex and labeled on the sole with their EU size. We also use the EU size in our listings. If you don’t know your EU shoe size just give us your gender and US size in a note when you buy, and we’ll make sure you get the right pair. Thank you.
